When shorty had the 4 thugs/thieves get in trouble, who did he let back on the team? The ho-hum ones? Nope. He let the best player back on the SAME team even after he had assaulted fellow students and stolen from them. The others? They were mediocre anyway, so they were processed. 2) Pettway spent a year at junior college before his return.
3) He was at Alabama to begin with, not retrieved from another team.
4) Alabama doesn't make this a practice and they aren't nationally known for cultivating these types of individuals for their athletic teams...but we know who is.
