Mason is already a senior.

It's one thing to bring in a talented freshman who could go pro, but then you also have the possibility of that player sticking around for another year. Just look at all the Kentucky freshmen who decided to stay.

You don't get that option with Mason. He has one year to play one. And saying he helps you win now remains to be seen. He might help you win a few more games, but it's hard to imagine that you make the tournament now just because you added Antoine Mason.

Maybe not, but it's not hard to imagine Auburn being more competitive immediately with the combination of a little more talent and much better coaching.

I just don't think basketball is as conducive to slow rebuilding most of the time. I don't know that this will solve any problem for Auburn, but I certainly think getting any additional talent is very good news for a program like ours.
