Several schools do this, at many there are very few classes that are only available for in person attendance anymore, usually the upper level courses with a lab, but some of those only require you in person for the lab as well.
The advantage to this is the student is able to work, often full time, while going to school. This is great for those who do not have their parents footing the bill or want to pay for it via loans, it creates an avenue to graduate completely debt free.
Many of these courses are set up to where the majority of your work is due on Sunday night, maybe an assignment or two due during the week, this allows you to do the school work on the weekends, work during the week. It isn't for everyone, just as living the frat life while in college isn't either.
