It also isn't a hard concept that you can't just recruit WRs well and be consistently successful. Thats the point (I hope) he was making

You also can't be successful if you only recruit penguins named Steve. But we aren't doing that, either.

Here's the WRs that Sumlin has recruited so far, by class:

2012
Thomas Johnson - Quit football (medical)
Sabian Holmes - Jr.
Eddie Pope - RS-So
Derel Walker - JUCO, Graduated

2013
Cam Clear (TE) - JUCO, Sr.
Quiv Gonzalez - So
Sebastian LaRue - Transferred to WSU
Kyrion Parker - RS-Fr
Ricky Seals-Jones - MedRS-Fr
Jeremy Tabuyo - So
JaQuay Williams - Transferred (Louisville?)

2014
Frank Iheanacho - Fr
Jamal Jeffrey - Fr
Speedy Noil - Fr
Josh Reynolds - JUCO

So for the 4 WR positions (+ TE), we've recruited 15 players. Four of those are already gone for various reasons, so that leaves us a total of 11 for the last three recruiting classes.

So no, we're not recruiting more WRs than we need to.

In that same period LSU has

12:
WR Travin Dural
WR Kavahra Holmes
13:
TE Desean Smith
WR Avery Peterson
WR John Diarse
WR Rickey Jefferson
WR Quantavius Leslie
WR Kevin Spears
TE Logan Stokes
14:
WR Malachi Dupre
WR Trey Quinn
TE Jacory Washington
WR Tony Upchurch
WR DJ Clark
That's 14 total

So in 13 and 14 combined they actually signed more than we did
