@Dave_Matter: Missouri softball coach Ehren Earleywine announces that Sarah Moore, Carlie Rose, Kelli Schkade & Casey Stangel no longer members of team

Rose and Moore are no big deal. Schkade showed promise as a freshman at 2B and that hurts. Stangel really hurts. She was likely to be the #3 pitcher next year and she might have seen that writing on the wall but I was hoping she'd buy into being the first baseman of the future and work on her swing more with the lessened role of being a #3 pitcher. Those 2 were both maxpreps All Americans. Those 2 hurt.

That was my reaction as well.

So Stangel left because she wasnt an ace? What happened to trying to beat out the competition?

I've heard all sorts of things thrown about. Not treated as a #1. Conflict with EE. Scholarship $$$ issues. Proximity to home issues. Who know if its any or these reasons or none of them.

That's not what kids do today....they quit and blame their issues on someone else....the new American Way

Bottom line is...EE has elite talent to work with and recruits on a national level. Only so many spots on the field and new recruits coming in. If you want playing time you have to be the best...or leave and find it somewhere else.

Earlywine has another stud left handed pitcher coming in, so the writing was on the wall.

Besides Lowary, any word on the others? Any they expect to contribute right away?
We need Mack to elevate her game next year. If she can take over the catching duties full time, we would have an infield of:
Randazzo/Genovese/Fagan/Roth
If Kingsley is returning (don't know if she is), we'd have an outfield of:
Kingsley/Gadbois/Crane
Pitching:
Finucane/Lowary
Given that, I suppose no rush for major contributions from the freshmen.

Nothing on incoming freshman. I think we will see Fleming and Fagan at 2b & 3b. Randazzo will dh most likely. EE has to get Fleming more playing time or she will transfer to good of a hitter to sit another year.

Is Kingsley coming back? I don't know that she is for a fact after her injury. I think she's a senior, but obviously has this red-shirt season.
There could be a spot in the OF open for competition as well. I imagine Gadbois and Crane have the other 2 spots locked down.

I noticed in the st Louis post dispatch article that it referenced five freshmen in the incoming class, but I know EE originally signed six. Does anyone know who might not still be included? I was really disappointed in Stangel's performance this year. She might end up doing ok somewhere, but she showed time after time that she couldn't compete in tough games...and those are the types of games the tigers almost always play.

That's why I was hoping she'd be willing to focus/concentrate more on her hitting and be the 1st baseman of the future. Take the pressure of being a starter off of her. I think she'd do fine as a 3rd pitcher, throwing mid week games or eating innings on weekends in blowouts or when needed. The more I think about it, the less concerned I am about the departures. The starting 9 won't be affected at all and the incoming class will more than make up for what was lost.

I haven't read anything on Kingsley not coming back. If she got medical pass this season she should come back as a jr. That what she's listed as on MU website. She hasn't played in a 1 1/2 yrs it will be tough coming back and starting. Lets hope the knee holds up this time.

Matter article
EE says no surgery for Finucane, Kingsley should be back and 100%, expects to land a Div 1 transfer pitcher (don't have to sit out a year in softball unless within your conference), Board will vote this month on a new stadium (likely on lot east of Hearnes) and needs to hire a replacement for Bradley, someone who will hug the girls and let them know everything will be ok.
