He is up there with the all-time great SEC defensive players. Arguments could be made for about 10 players I'm sure. Of course you could make a case that Derrick Thomas is only the third best LB to play for Alabama. Lee Roy Jordan, Cornelius Bennett, and Derrick Thomas could all be argued for spots 1-3 just on that list. Very hard to give superlatives for things like this.

As for individual seasons, Derrick Thomas' 1988 season is DEFINITELY one of the most dominating by a defensive player in college football history though.

Lee Roy was the best bama LB, IMO. Reggie White is the most dominant D player in my life, IMO.
