I was solid Republican in my late teens, more leaning Democrat in my mid 20's, swung back to Republican. I've been much more Libertarian the past 10-15 years or so.
Bush-Obama should have convinced everyone that it really doesn't matter on the national level who you elect. Politicians talk down to the ignorant voter an love to use divisive rhetoric, but deep inside the powers that be have no motive to change the system. So, you get the same assembly no matter what pieces you plug in.

I see exactly what you're saying. The money is too good for anyone in the system to want to shake things up. They don't have to either, because on average we don't care. Either walk around in total Ignorance of the world, or beholden to beating the other guy.
