The thing about that game is that both teams averaged around 38 ppg otherwise.

Even the BCSNCG had it a 15-0 game until mid way through the 4th quarter. LSU's defense held their own in that one too. Alabama's defense was just better than LSU's offense by a greater margin than LSU's defense was better than Alabama's offense in the second game.

Still amazing.

Yeah the LSU D/ST really helped elevate the O, constantly giving them good field position, forcing 3 and outs keeping the opposing D on the field etc.

Also, Brad Wing should always be remembered for his performance in that game. I'm trying to dig up stats but he was simply phenomenal. Constantly pinning Alabama deep in their own territory. He had a 73-yard punt (inb4wire)

Agreed. Also, LSU Defense and/or Special Teams never made the big play early (or late) that sparked the whole team like it did against Arkansas and Georgia the previous two games, and to some extent the whole year....
