The psuedo-science - it hurts.

Pseudo-science? There are DOZENS of large scale studies which show beyond any reasonable doubt that there is a significant difference between the races

Here is a fine example showing a dramatic difference in muscle mass and the ability to increase muscle mass quickly in blacks:

quote:

Our review unequivocally shows that the FFB of blacks and whites differs significantly. It has been shown from cadaver and in vivo analyses that blacks have a greater BMC and BMD than do whites. These racial differences could substantially affect measures of body density and %BF. According to Lohman (63), a 2% change in the BMC of the body at a given body density could, theoretically, result in an 8% error in the estimation of %BF. Thus, the BMC and BMD of blacks must be considered when %BF is estimated.

Additionally, it is apparent from the limited research that the protein portion of the FFB is greater in blacks than in whites. This difference in protein, along with the greater BMCs and BMDs observed in blacks than in whites, violates the assumptions of the traditional 2-component body-composition models of Siri (1) and Brozek et al (2). Thus, these models are probably invalid for estimating the %BF of black men.

Here's a good, article discussing the differences between West and East Africans, and between them and whites:

LINK

quote:

Bouchard is persuaded that a large fraction of both West and East African blacks enjoy biological advantages for power or sprint events and endurance activities, respectively. "West Africans have more of the key anaerobic enzymes in their skeletal muscle, those enzymes being responsible for regenerating the energy in the muscle cell through anaerobic pathways," wrote Bouchard. We are talking here about a two-fold difference between a significant fraction of blacks from West Africa and whites from North America. East Africans, on the other hand, seem to have more ability to mobilize the energy stored in adipose tissue in other body depots and to use that energy for prolonged periods of exercise. The key point is that these biological characteristics are not unique to either West or East African blacks. These characteristics are seen in all populations, including whites. However, based on the limited number of studies available, there seems to be far more African Blacks with such characteristics than there are in other populations.
