LSU's schedule has clearly been tougher over that time period.
Alabama has played a much easier SEC schedule overall over the course of the past 21 years. Yet, championships are still judged by your confernce record.
They should only count division games and use the non-division games for tie breakers or something. So, if a team goes 5-0 in the division and 0-3 against the east, they win over the team who goes 4-1 in the division and 3-0 against the East. The non-division record would only come into play in the case of a tie breaker. That equalizes it quite a bit. And, it makes division games count that much more.

You do realize that using the exact formula that you just said, that the results of the winner of the every SEC West titles would be same?
So how would that "equalize" anything?
