Why only every 4 years? LSU, Georgia, Florida, Texas, etc. should all do better considering their location and tradition. Alabama manages to draw recruits from y'all's states and has been in the hunt for a national championship 6 of the last 7 seasons (2010 being the exception).

LSU was in the hunt in 2010 until we lost to Arkansas the final game

LSU was in the hunt and made it to the title game in 2011

LSU was in the hunt in 2012 until we collapsed on the final drive against Alabama at home. They probably go to the title game and face Notre Dame

LSU was in the hunt in 2006 too.
In 2010, TCU was ranked #3 and undefeated. Even if Auburn had lost the Iron Bowl, I think they still would have won the division and gone to the SEC Championship for a shot at redemption.

2012 Georgia would have given LSU serious trouble in the SEC Championship game.

The 2011 season is part of the 4 year pattern (2003, 2007, 2011, 2015). It's like LSU only gets the breaks every 4 seasons. All programs have room for improvement. LSU could improve to the point where they didn't depend on getting the "breaks" as much.
