You mean like CPS? They recognize it as a form of discipline as long as it's not overboard. I agree.

It's not child abuse. If me or my cousins were bad my grandmother would get a switch out of the yard and threaten to hit us on the legs if we didn't listen to her and do what she said. The threat was plenty, but one of my cousins finally tested her and she followed through... He didn't ever test her again.

Child abuse is when you do it for no reason, over and over, and have no control of what you are doing.. If you doing it to teach them a lesson it's different than doing it out of anger.
