i agree with this statement. but people who network for a living should never say things like this. I hope you don't say things like this in public, as it will discredit you amongst your peers.

fwiw I'm in the 'networking business' as well. The key to good networking is for people to never know you're trying to network.

This is very true. I should have added "based upon your fandom" to my comment about caring too much. I just don't think stupid sports fans devalue my future degree or networking ability at any appreciable level. 1 public idiot in a 4 year graduating group over 2000 is like throwing a rock in the ocean.
