It's kinda hard to judge, but I think AJ McCarron was good enough to start in 2010. He had good stats, but they were mostly in garbage time.
That last series against Auburn, when he had to replace McElroy, he failed to complete a single pass. But in his defense, Bama's receivers were dropping balls all through that second half. I actually think McCarron was putting the ball in nice spots, for what it's worth.
Edit: Meh, I just took another look at the last seconds of that Iron Bowl. His passes were a little bit more sloppy than I remembered.
I'm curious. What do Bama fans think? How many games would you have won in 2010 if you had started McCarron.
The closest win of the year was Arkansas, but McElroy didn't really contribute much to that. That was won primarily because of the run game.

Aj was a rs that year, 09 was true freshman year. In which case we probably never beat UF in Atlanta.
