The Blues were destined to burn out, and truthfully they're not that great. Their win total is inflated because they outwork teams for most of the regular season, but when it comes down to it, their roster isn't as good as their win total.

They're demanded to bring a playoff effort for 82 games, which isn't the standard across the league. There is more of a 'marathon' mentality with other teams.

Hitch doesn't roll like that, though. He wants the pedal to the metal all year, and that will burn any team out. Plus the Blues had so many guys go the the olympics, that's big.

Guys like Steen are two way, second line players. Steen is a great penalty killer, a good guy to have on the second power play unit. A guy that can play both ends of the ice, do a lot of things, but he's not a major point getter. What he did at the beginning of the year was a flash in the pan. Oshie is the same way, he's a second or even third line NHLer on a great team. He's a two way player, he's not a gifted skill player.

The Blues have lied to their fans for too long, and it's really starting to hurt morale.

There is a huge major gigantic misconception about many Blues players. The Davidson years were full of fluff and sugar coated marketing campaigns. Guys that are good hockey players but not elite skilled players have been inaccurately marketed to Blues fans. Panger was pumping Oshie after the olympics, telling Blues fans that he's got some of the most skill in the world, hogwash. That's absolute nonsense. These lies are now coming home to roost.

Not to mention the Blues have drafted so pathetically that a new word needs to be created to accurately describe how absolutely fricking god awful and embarrassingly bad they've drafted over the last decade, its even fair to say decades. It's got to be one of the worst drafting franchises in major sports.

That said, if Taransenko comes back without much rust, and things can get going the right way the Blues are capable of beating anyone in a 7 game series.

Just keep in mind that if it's teams like the Hawks, Kings, Ducks, Av's.. they've got at least 2, but more like 3-4 elite skilled players and the Blues don't really have any.

When things get locked up you need a guy like Kane, or Kopitar, Carter, Sharp ect to break through.
