I am trying to find a pair of fly fishing guide pants. The khaki pants that are breathable. My problem is I'm a big boy 6'5" and everyone stops at the 34" inseam and I need a 36" inseam. I have a Chattooga trip middle of May and I want these pants to protect my legs from all the briars on the trails surrounding the Chattooga and Chauga. Thanks for your help.

Yeah I'm 6'4 and have the same problem. I've got a pair from Cabelas that I got a couple years ago. I don't know if they still have them. It's annoying that most of the large retailers don't carry past a 34

Yea, Patagonia's guide pants are available in XXL and the damn inseam is a 33". What the hell. I told a co-worker to not believe store signs for big and tall. There is no tall at the big and tall, it's all big. Thanks, I just ordered a pair of ultra light wading boots from Cabelas in a 14. Should be here in a few days, the only pants that I saw were 34' inseams. I'll look again. If you’re in the Chattooga area (Rabun County, GA) in the middle of May let me know. I and 5 buddies will be camping for a long weekend and fly fishing.

Ive never encountered briars on any of the trails around the Chattooga. Where are you having this issue, specifically? Have you considered some Wrangler blue jeans or Dickie's that are extra tough fabric? I know that no one will think you are a badass unless you are wearing a $200 pair of pants that says "I'm a badass", but it should get the job done for you.

There's one catch, wranglers are hot as hell and will weigh a ton when wet. The guide pants are thin fabric that dries quickly and does not stain. I plan to be in the water and most of the area above HWY 28 bridge is wilderness with briars, fallen trees and sticker bushes everywhere. I'm not talking about the hiking trails, I'm talking about the woods that you have to navigate to get up stream of the river to the good spots.

I'd figure you'd be stepping into waders.
Also that part of the Chattooga is a little bit rougher, I haven't been there in a long time. The trail that goes for miles and you aren't even close to the river without bushwacking. Very annoying, and its not even worth it because everytime I think I've gone far enough, there's a guy fishing in the next spot, and the next spot, and the next spot. I try to avoid that area, too much work, not enough fishing.

YEA, that area is rough. I think it will probably be too hot for waders. May-October is wader sleeping time here in the South. Some people wear waders all year long but I like wet wading and cooling off while I'm fishing. Yea, I wasn't planning on spending $200 bones on some pants but I can't find any. Looks like it will be shorts time.

Chacos and Cargo shorts for me. I had waders once, used them a couple times, went back to the sandals and cargo shorts.

Preach it brother. I'm 6'5 and am shocked at how hard it is to find 36" inseam. Also, the big and tall sections in most stores are a joke unless you're looking for off brands with elastic waists...I mean really....who wears a pair of 54 32 sized pants?
If you can find a store that stocks Carhart, they usually have 36" inseams and have some lightweight pants....ie not that hardcore fabric that's bulletproof until you wash them 100 times. Also, sometimes you can get lucky and find some long sizes in Columbia pants if you know where they stock them.

I have the same issue...couldn't tell you the last time I found pants in a store. Sucks not being able to see the actual color or texture of jeans.

SquatchDawg, you just gave me an idea. I have a manager in Leeseville, SC that has a company connection with Carhart. Was at that branch one day and a huge box was delivered. I do not know a lot about their clothing but she said she got it for either 30%-40% off retail. Gonna check it out.

I have seen Carhartt's and Riggs in 36 length at Bargain Barn before, if you happen to be in the area.
