This just gave me images of the South Park Episode "Up the down steroid"

and fwiw I thought your advice was very legitimate.

Hypothetically,
If I were the OP, knowing what I know now I'd go to Georgia Baptist College, Mercer's nursing school for 4 years. (Pharmacy is a great career choice also) Put 2 years of ICU work in, apply to CRNA school, do 2.3 - 2.6 years for my Masters or 3 - 3.3 for my doctorate. (don't do like me, going back to get your DNAP adds on another couple years if you don't do it from the get go) Get out make about 140-170k to start if he works a rural hospital. (By the way, move back home if possible, live with your folks, and the first 2 years, do nothing but pay off loans and save) Get 3 years of experience and join an anesthesia team or a Surgery Center/Plastic Surgery/Dentistry(specifically children's) and consult for about 250K+ and work about 2/3 of the year and call it a day...that's just me though...

Having said that, I have a couple degrees from UGA and that's a pretty damn good school also...

Don't be a pharmacist... trust me on this.

Pharmacists have jobs because of laws about drugs, those laws are changing soon. I'm not talking about Marijuana either.

Oncology is where the money is, but also very depressing. You couldn't pay me a million dollars a year to be an oncologist. 2 million, maybe, I'd do it a couple years and be done.

By the time you've graduated med school and done your residency, no one is going to give a shite where you did your undergrad.

As far as you being a responsible young 17 year old that doesn't intend on getting into trouble, you wouldn't be the first well-raised strapping young man to get dropped off in Athens with high hopes and wide eyes, and end up getting AIDS from the door handle at Boneshakers, because you didn't know...
