We lose 6 straight and keep a .5 game lead in the NL East. Man this division sucks

we are in a weak division, which is why i think we got it handed to us last post season...hopefully we will have a good summer...looking bleak right now though...especially if the Nats get hot...

Naw man... same shite happened last year, we will be hitting on all cyclinders by Mid-May Early June. The Nats aren't going to do jack shite this year especially if you consider Harper and Zimmerman are both going to be out until right before the All-Star break. Even if they come back and are on fire during the second half we own their asses head to head so there is always that. Plus as you said, we are in an incredibly weak division and as long as we beat up on the Mets and Phillies we will be fine.

IMO the Marlins will be a pesky team this season, and would be dangerous if they had one or two more bats in their lineup. They will fizzle out eventually though because a team with Casey McGehee batting cleanup is not a legitimate threat to compete in the long run.

The past week was been discouraging no denying that, but we just got Minor back and Floyd comes back this week which will provide a huge boost to our pitching staff. Also, Venters should be ready by mid-late June which will shore up things in the pen.

i forgot about the nats injuries....that is encouraging...im just not sure what happened when we went down to miami, but we look fizzled...need to have a GOOD home stand to make up for it...

pitching ain't the problem though. if it wasn't for our overachieving starters doing what they did in May, we would probably be under .500...our offense blows. we need to call up La Stella or start PEna or the Pastor at 2b. Uggla doesn't even have power anymore, he is worthless. we also need a real leadoff hitter...maybe trade for one?

we have scored 99 runs...good for 2nd fewest in baseball with only the padres behind us.

Oh, I agree that pitching has not been a problem, actually it has been a strength up to this point. While I don't think Harang and Wood are going to "fall of a cliff", as you said they have both been overachieving so I think that getting Minor and Floyd back will bode well for our chances of future success as opposed to riding out the Harang/Wood train until it runs out of gas.

La Stella should have broke camp with the team, but it is what it is. They are determined to stick Uggla out there almost every damn day as long as he can hit above .100 which is absurd. His contract is a sunk cost at this point so I really don't see the benefit of keeping him in the starting lineup, it's not like he's the face of the franchise or the other players are going to revolt if they see his arse is riding the pine

Maybe Wren was hoping he would start off hot and then attempt to try flip him for anything, but with his contract even that would be somewhat of a challenge.

I would be open to this but the problem is that the majority of your leadoff men either play OF or Middle Infield, and we are set in those positions with the exception of 2B.

I think are best bet is to promote La Stella and bat him there. The dude is an OBP machine and while he may not have plus speed he would be capable of setting the table and would be an improvement from batting JHey in that spot.

agreed...i'm not feeling to confident in Harang tonight...

and i'm not sure that Floyd will be an improvement. his career numbers (IIRC) are pretty terrible, but maybe McDowell can work his magic. Minor, Teheran, Santana, Wood and Floyd should give us chance to win most nights. Gonna be interesting to see if and when they move Alex to the bullpen.

I dont think you can start him off leadoff, but i agree in hoping he finds his way there after a couple of weeks

you seen the lineup today? harang i sbatting 8th and Pena 9th

also, we're moving up in fantasy baseball. 1st and 3rd

I honestly don't know how slow he is so I will take your word for it I just don't see the value in wasting someone who posts a high OBP at the bottom of the order. I am not a sabermetrics "loyalist" by any means, but there are only a few things that annoy me more than a guy who walks a lot/ posts a solid OBP and bats 7th or 8th in the order because 9 times out of 10 the pitcher is a free out.

We haven't seen La Stella hit at the big league level so maybe it is a bit premature for me to be lobbying for him to bat leadoff but if he is able to get on base at a decent clip I don't see why he shouldn't at least get a shot.

no doubt, and I agree about the OBP. I just said start him off lower so he's not thrown in the fire right when he gets up here.

I honestly don't know much about our farm system players in general.

Hopefully we can get Justin back today or tomorrow.

Hale is looking solid in middle relief, 7 innings, 0 runs, 4 hits, 2 walks since moving to the pen. Also Walden hit the DL Saturday so I would imagine Carpenter and Varvaro will see an increase in their workloads for the time being.
