I disagree. A shite hole, literally, is not a hole with shite in it, but a whole composed of shite. I mean, to the extent that a hole is "composed of" anything. I guess it's really a privation of shite, a very special privation of shite - a privation of shite that is surrounded, somewhat regularly, by shite in all directions but up.
A hole in shite, you might say. That's what a shite hole is, literally.
