I like Eli Gold, but yeah, there is a bit of irony in the fact that the voice of Alabama football was born and raised in Brooklyn.

Of course, Paul Eells and Larry Munson were two of the best ever and they were from Iowa and Minnesota, respectively.

Ironic on a different note, but in the golden age of radio announcing the voice of the NY Yankees (Mel Allen) and Brooklyn Dodgers (Red Barber) were from the South.
