Taking Bama to the NCAAs 5 years in a row is pretty strong. FWIW, I think he was a victim of his own success. He was good enough to create out-sized expectations for the Bama basketball program, but not good enough to meet those expectations.

True, but save for that Elite 8 run one year he underachieved every time. I think he only made it out of the 1st round one other time, then got blown out in the 2nd round. There was a running joke during that run that anyone that beat Bama in the tourney would see their coach get hired by another SEC school.

I won't deny he was a good coach and for the most part brought in good kids that went to class and stayed out of trouble. He brought us back from the depths of the Hobbs era, but then he just got complacent and thought he was too good to make changes. I was happy to see him go, as were 99% of the other Bama basketball fans I know.
