It does make sense and I think it describes us to a tee. But I will pose this question in response. Why wasn't Jordan Jenkins compelled to this extra effort past season? Grantham playing favorites, no tough competition at OLB or what?

Who says he wasn't? You are bringing a rumor here that he didn't go to voluntary workouts, then ask me my theory on why he didn't give extra effort. I don't really know how to respond. I thought he had a great season.
As much as yall hate Grantham, he and Olivadotti know alot about football and there seemed to be no question who was going to play that position... Jordan Jenkins.

I read an article where he said as much. It isn't rumor. I get that he's learned his lesson and I'm not worried about him for the upcoming season. But I wish for an institutionalized standard that nothing less than 100% is accepted. Ok, so Jordan Jenkins learned his lesson, what about the next guy. Does he have to go through a sophomore slump to realize he needs to work harder? I think that's a legitimate question that falls on leadership, especially player leadership. Just throwing thoughts out there. Not trying to argue.

Good article, I missed that one.
Also, on the not-enough-sacks front...
The scheme was a little different in 2013 with a whole new defense. Jenkins wasn't set loose like a wild animal to go after the qb on every play, like Jarvis and Clowney were. His job was basically a traditional DE, but at outside linebacker, job #1 is contain, hold the edge, and he did a hell of a job at it. That's why he got 2nd team All SEC in his first year starting on the heels of Jarvis Jones.

To be fair, it wasn’t a terrible season for Jenkins. He is tied for the team lead in tackles forloss with 11. In fact, he was a second-team All-SEC selection by the coaches -- an honor that Jenkins admitted was a surprise. Read more here: LINK
