I believe you are incorrect as far as child support. Any person can have their payments decreased if the payee has a loss in income, not sure about the alimony.

The judge told my buddy to get a different job or work more hours.

So he gets a different job, a few years go by he advances in the field, she finds out he is making 40k a year more now than then, protests for more child support and back pay.

He pays for every thing from school to sports related stuff, keeps them 2 full weeks out of the month (basically half a year they stay with him) he doesn't have joint custody (he protested for it).

She hasn't worked since the divorce took place 5 years ago.

The law on child support is pretty cut and dry. The judge may say he should get a better job, but not sure he can order it.

Not trying to say you are wrong or argue, but if my child support is based on a 6 figure salary, and I lost that job, then took a job making 75,000, then I have every right to an adjustment to my child support. Now if I get a promotion and start making more, then its up to the other party to sue for an increase. Said party can do this twice a year. I had to provide a copy of my w2 to the ex, guess it was a way of her knowing if our children deserved an increase in child support.

Hopefully someone on here knows how this works and can clarify it.

Cash & Prizes!!!

Seriously, men have very little incentive to get married these days. Don't get married unless you absolutely want children and can't just rent a nanny, or she makes significantly more money than you do.

Otherwise, its just too big of a risk.
