Yeah, they won't be able to do that. They will either take a coach to task (suspension) if the coach's team does it too much or they will create some sort of rule with a mandatory number of plays an injured player must sit out before he can return to the game. You can't reasonably ask refs to try to differentiate legit injuries from fake.

Agreed. I don't think they will challenge injuries or try to assign motives, suspend coaches, etc. It seems the only way they could realistically address would be to discourage it by requiring players to sit out more plays. That would be a pretty controversial rule to push through to say the least.

It will have to be pretty clear for them to go this far, but it isn't unprecedented. A Cal assistant was suspended by the school a few year's ago for it.

It is something they certainly don't want to have to step into if they can avoid.

yea. controversy all around

but at the end of the day, don't see how they could prove if a player is faking or not. they'd never pass a rule forcing a player to sit out 'x' amount of playstoo.

your star QB legitimately gets dinged up from roughing the passer on a crucial set of downs and comes out of the game. decides he feels good enough to go back in the next play but can't because of the sit out rule. your team loses.
