IOW, I think what's happened here is that they got the case files and are running with initial police interviews/reports to create a story. It's just very misleading the way it's been written and headlined.

We've been expecting more news on the case soon because of the lawsuit to get access to files.


Makes sense. But it certainly is worth questioning what they wanted to keep out of the media's hands.

For the victim's sake they should give the media as little as possible.

Indeed. I would expect it is something very ugly about the case. I seem to remember someone connected with the case being interviewed as saying it was just disgusting and horrible and the investigation had uncovered things that weren't appropriate for the media to report.
