I don't think we have a thread on this board yet about Johnny's NFL propsects. I saw this article today and thought it'd be a good start.

From Johnny Football to Johnny Manziel: The Making of an NFL Quarterback

quote:

"I want everybody from the janitor at Reliant Stadium to the front office executive assistant all the way up to (owner) Bob McNair to say, 'This kid is 100 percent, can't miss. This is who we want being the face of our program. We want the Texas kid staying in Texas and leading the Texans.'"

His work ethic is unmatched.

Critics that say he won't be able to create plays like he did in college never mention the fact that the dude is absolutely dead eye accurate when he's on. He doesn't need to rush for 700-1000 yards like he did in college, just move in the pocket and give himself another 2-3 seconds to make a throw. His arm strength isn't drastically different than Russell Wilson's. Most people overrate arm strength in the NFL as well. A friend of mine is on the Patriots and he has said that he has rarely ever seen Brady throw over 25 yards, however 25 yards and in he can drop in on a dime.

I don't know if I'd take him top 5, but that being said nobody pays me shite to scout NFL talent either. Regardless I think Johnny will be very successful in the NFL as long as he doesn't go to the Browns or Raiders.

Former Texans GM Charley Casserly isn't a big fan of Manziel. NFL.com Article

Then again, there's a reason why Casserly is no longer in the Texans' employ.

At any rate, here is this year's draft order:

1. Houston
2. St. Louis (from Washington)
3. Jacksonville
4. Cleveland
5. Oakland Raiders
6. Atlanta
7. Tampa Bay
8. Minnesota
9. Buffalo
10. Detroit
11. Tennessee
12. NY Giants
13. St. Louis
14. Chicago
15. Pittsburgh
16. Baltimore
17. Dallas
18. NY Jets
19. Miami
20. Arizona
21. Green Bay
22. Philadelphia
23. Kansas City
24. Cincinnati
25. San Diego
26. Cleveland (from Indianapolis)
27. New Orleans
28. Carolina
29. New England
30. San Francisco
31. Denver
32. Seattle

Jacksonville, Cleveland, and Oakland all need an upgrade at the QB position. In my opinion, none of these teams would be ideal for Johnny from an organizational standpoint. Most mock drafts currently don't have him falling further than #5, but it's still over two months from draft day.
