I'd say Texas as a state is far ahead of the rest of the SEC states in most areas of social rights.

you've got to love an A&M person taking claim to this. You do have progressive cities like Austin, then you have College Station where the only minority residents play or coach on your sports teams so it all evens out.

My dad's entire side of the family and my immediate family are from and reside in College Station. That's a LOT of black folks, and only one of them (my little brother) has ever played on a TAMU sports team.

Try again, fool

Have you BEEN to Bryan/College Station? It's 30% black and 17% hispanic. The country is only 12% black. The United States is 72% white. Bryan/College Station is actually much more diverse than the nation at large.

Since you brought it up, let's talk Austin.

Austin is the classic "Champagne Liberal" town. I know, I live right in the affluent, lilly white center of it. They do things like ban shopping bags, eat lots of kale, ride bikes everywhere, and refuse to build highways, and people like you laud them as "progressive". But the flip side of all that smug is, there may be 5 black people in my whole zip code. The thing about Champagne Liberals is the uncanny consistency with which they manage to subtley keep darky away.
