I wish I could find the stats I used in 1987 in a study I did for a grad course.

I know it is very outdated, however the premise was this.

It showed by numbers that the amount of money raised in the state did not cover the amount of the raise in the rate of crime, foreclosures, and burden on social services over a period of time. That the rate of financial increases of these items along with the needed manpower of legal fees was actually more than the states cut of the gambling offered. I believe it was 10 years and I can not remember which state. I will try to find it. However, this is just the financial aspect that so many are enamored with.

I tend to believe that Arkansas would be better served in building the infrastructure and promotion of our natural resources to the outsider to come visit, bring their industry, and retire/move/vacation here. Our promotions of our great state is atrocious at best. JMHO of course.

Porky, you are exactly right. And Jesus even turned water into real wine.. GASP!!!

And I bet he didn't leave the party once the wedding festivities continued, do you?

Again, the aspect of wanting what is best for his/her neighbor, friends, society, state, nation with regards to not taking from, but adding too in a positive way is what I hope for, live for, and attain for. and Often fall short of.

I have no problem with a game of blackjack, as long as it is not abused. but the government getting involved to make money from gambling only to use the money to help those who have a gambling problem caused by the government resources in the first place. Nuts...

Again, I prefer helping our state overcome in better ways. Again, can you imagine the great things that could have been accomplished by Daly's gambling losses in Arkansas? I could go on and on, but wont for the sake of watching the Olympics.

BTW, Love the Dog... Awesome!

Why not all the above?

You want to drastically reduce poverty improve education, period. (Government standpoint) "However, we cannot let them get too smart or they might see behind the curtain." Thank the lord for the internet to circumvent the education bubble and fallacy.

Google with 800 students in an on-line classroom is coming if not hindered by corrupt bureaucracy.
