Go on Google Maps and look at how bad the traffic is in Beaverton, Oregon today.
I agree with your point, though. Phil Knight has completely transformed Oregon. Between 1970 and 1985, Oregon and Oregon State had fewer wins than Mississippi State. The Beavers have improved quite a bit under Riley and Erickson but the Ducks are in the stratosphere relative to what they once were.

Oregon also hasn't hired "from outside their program" since the early '90s.
