It's actually embarrassing that neither UT nor UK are supporting equestrian. We have no excuse not to have outstanding programs - we have breeders, riders, shows, Western and English saddle based competitions, our own freaking horse breeds and races and vet schools specializing in the horses.

If the NCAA held whiskey and bourbon competitions and UT and UK didn't bother to field real teams it wouldn't be any more mind boggling than us not having real equestrian teams.

COLUMBIA, SC — The daughter of American composer and songwriter Burt Bacharach LINK is joining South Carolina's equestrian team.

Coach Boo Major said Thursday that Raleigh Bacharach signed a letter of intent to join the Gamecocks in 2014. Bacharach will ride with South Carolina's hunt seat team and will compete both over fences and on the flat.

Major says Bacharach is the Gamecocks first signee of the year from the west coast and is a talented rider. She attends Campbell Hall School in Los Angeles.

Bacharach's father, Burt, has won Academy Awards and Grammys for his five decades of work. LINK
