Jimmy Smith, NOLA.com writer, makes his prediction on Charlot: I highlighted some other interesting tidbits in his piece:

quote:

Patterson wide receiver Daylon Charlot has been back-and-forth between LSU and Alabama for quite some time. The 6-foot, 180-pound receiver decommitted from the Crimson Tide a while ago, but that hasn't stopped Alabama coaches from recruiting him.

The lowdown:

Charlot was disappointed that it took LSU longer than other programs to offer him and the Tigers have been battling the sour taste in his mouth throughout the whole process. LSU wide receiver coach Adam Henry has kept things interesting by making leaving Louisiana a difficult decision for Charlot. He was supposed to take an official visit to Miami this past weekend, but cancelled the visit after Alabama took a firm stance about his impending travel plans.

The prediction: Alabama

The Tigers were never able to overcome the issues surrounding his recruitment, despite its attempts to do so. There are rumors circulating that Alabama WR coach Billy Napier may be bolting Tuscaloosa after National Signing Day, taking the wide receiver coaching job at Florida, but Charlot doesn't seem overly concerned at this point. Then there is the fact that Alabama is still controlling where he visits, which also leads me to believe that they are still steering the ship.

Confidence level: 75%

I've been leaning Alabama more and more over recent weeks as his final decision draws near. It's still a possibility that LSU could sign him on Wednesday, but nobody seems that confident in it happening.

LINK Napier leaving would suck. Especially since the Bears announced they are keeping Groh.

From the LSURB on Devin White:

quote:

He is a tremendous talent but he is lacking a lot in character. He is full of himself will be our next Landon collins

Yeah, LC clearly lacked character. Who are these swamp rats, and how did they get internet?

FWIW they think that he is leaning toward Alabama right now. Thus, he is a character risk

Probably tired of the Ole Miss fans and staff making pictures of him. Same with Cowart and Auburn fans stalking him

Jimmy Smith is pretty butthurt about Charlot. Has him as the 14th best player in the state

For reference 247 has him at 6 and composite has him at 4

re: Devin White at Bama this weekend

Sorry I just realized I left my account open. I guess my 4 year old son made the comment. He has only seen him play a few times. I will tell him not to rush to judgment

His four year old son can correctly spell "tremendous" and "character". I'm impressed.

What is this? I don't even...

Charlot would be a Top 3 Player in the state of Louisiana if he was committed to them.

Drew D. As always, TIFWIW:

quote:

Recruiting Notes:

Word is the Alabama coaching staff feels good about the prospects currently committed. The three most like to still sign with Alabama on Wednesday are:

As close to a LOCK as you can get:

WR Daylon Charlot 6’0 195 Patterson, Louisiana Patterson High School

The two AlabamaINTEL feels the Crimson Tide has the best shot at are:

DE CeCe Jefferson 6-2 250 4.80 Glen St. Mary-Baker County HS FL

Note: The media savvy Jefferson wore Alabama shirt to school today, but Ole Miss & UF are still alive…VERY seriously doubt he signs with Auburn. Could the trust factor with Bo Davis and his father being college teammates win out…especially with Alabama’s track record of developing defensive players for the NFL? Also, Tosh Lupoi’s efforts this month have made an impression. INTEL believes Jefferson will ultimately grow into a 3-4 defensive end, but will start out playing Jack LB for the energetic Lupoi. This is something to monitor for the next 48 hours or so.

WR K.J Hill 6’0 190 North Little Rock, Arkansas, North Little Rock HS

Note: The consensus on Hill is that Arkansas is basically out after Hill did not visit this weekend. Ohio State, who entered the race late, and Alabama are the top two. With Terry Godwin VERY likely signing with UGA, if the UA staff wants to sign a third WR, the North Little Rock star is the likely candidate. Billy Napier, who is is his lead recruiter, has been on him a LONG time and would also be his position coach. Also, Lane Kiffin’s success at OC, along of course with Amari Cooper’s Heisman campaign season, has really turned the head of Hill and his family. If Nick Saban and UA really turn up the heat in the next two days, this could mark three straight seasons that the top prospect in Arkansas ends up in Crimson…stay tuned!

Two darkhorses that likely end up elsewhere but need to be monitored:

WR Lawrence Cager 6’5 205 Towson, Maryland Calvert Hall School

Note: Cager was told by the Alabama coaching staff he had a spot in the class if he so chose this weekend. The Towson, Maryland, standout told INTEL that the chances of a flip from Miami were “very slim.” He and his family wanted to commit to UA back at the Army All-American game but was told at that time, and then on his official visit on January 16th that the numbers dictated a spot in the class was not guaranteed. After his official trip to Coral Gables, he has seemed firmly committed to the U. Stranger things have happened, but look for him to likely be a Cane on Wednesday, though INTEL likes Cager better than Hill due to his size (6-5) and 30+ inch vertical leap.

TE Tyrone Wheatley Jr, 6’6 235 Canisius High School Buffalo, New York

Note: An official visit last Tuesday to Michigan was followed up with a trip to Oregon. Wheatley had been in contact with the Alabama staff last week and given them hope, but the trip to Michigan has most believing he follows his father, the newly named running backs coach at UM, to Ann Arbor. Southern California is a school to watch but the Maize and Blue legacy is likely at this point to keep it in the family.

Three prospects headed elsewhere:

WR Terry Godwin 6-0 165 4.60 Hogansville-Callaway HS GA
Godwin (Expected to sign with Georgia)

6. OT Isaiah Prince 6’6 275 Greenbelt, Maryland Eleanor Roosevelt High School
Prince (Maryland got final vi$it & looks to be the favorite)

7. OT Drew Richmond 6’5 323 Memphis, Tennessee Memphis University High School
Richmond (Ole Miss and UT final two; did not visit UA; will sign with Rebels)

But Miles is being honest, LBs have longer shelf lives!

Coming from the fanbase that were convinced Bama was gonna move Fournette to LB because his xHC mentioned it to him.

They were only trying to extend his career
