In all seriousness, I have a friend that's been trying to get me to read them but whenever she explains them they come off like a Harlequin/sci fi crossover. I usually stick to classics like Pride and Prejudice when I do romance novels.

that's the general consensus i got. i felt like it was 50 shades of gray (which she didn't read) combined with a time traveling Braveheart.

when she went through her twilight (mock me not), divergent, and hunger games phases i read those with her but this one just had absolutely no appeal to me.

I can't do Twilight. The little bit I read was awful.

I'll eventually end up reading the rest of The Hunger Games. I read a couple excerpts aloud from the first book for some students a couple years ago and enjoyed it. I get the feeling Divergent is similar, but I haven't read them.
