Why wouldn't the sports media embrace parity?

They always seem to push for a couple of teams to just bulldoze everyone and they always coddle their pet teams. USC once upon a time. UF once upon a time. "bama is the best team in the country".

Meanwhile they have to polarize every story as being the best or worst thing to ever happen.

It just doesn't make sense to me. How is it the most profitable approach?

Don't know, but as others have posted, it's cheapened CFB for me. Media whores are the reason we had to win a conference championship for the opportunity to play a team we'd already beaten two years ago.

This is actually a good question, parity drives profits in the NFL...guess you'd have to ask an ESPN exec why they think it's a good idea to put all their weight behind a Bama team year after year...same thing with USC but I get it for a California TV market...

b/c in college athletics, especially football, it pays to embrace the 'bluebloods'.

It's all about bringing in the casual fan... dynasty teams (and the top 5/10 matchups that come along with it) like bama do that.

Look at this year's SECCG... a top 5 matchup between AU/Mizzou... still didn't have the ratings of the previous top 5 SECCG matchups like Bama/UGA and Bama/UF from 08 and 09.
