The ball was tipped right to Conley, who, out of instinct, caught the ball and ended the game. The ball could have been tipped on the next play even if we spiked the ball and set up a different play, but the catch is what did us in.

The play we picked may not have worked, but it had worked several times earlier in the year, and we had Bama on their heels. I think it was a good call. Even if it falls incomplete, we still have another shot at it. The catch ended it, and if it wasn't tipped right to Conley (if it was batted down harmlessly, for instance), then we still have another shot.

Yeah, Bama executed, but we didn't lose due to a lack of execution. Just the opposite: we were performing under pressure and driving the ball against the eventual MNC. We had them on their heels and one play with an unforeseeable outcome ended it.
