Would we, without the knowledge of any religion existence, have come the same standard of morals today?
Maybe, maybe not. But I know that people exist without following strictly religious-based morals.

Like it or not, many of our laws are based from precedent established years ago through religious teachings.
We have also evolved into a country of diverse beliefs as well. Not everyone follows strict laws based on religious teaching, nor was raised in a religious based household either.
You're implying that people cannot be inherently good without religion. That's a pretty absurd notion.

You're not following what I'm saying. This goes way before this country ever existed. I'm talking about at the beginning of civilized man if there was no concept of religion, how would our view of morals be today?
Religion set a standard for morality in history. Sure a person is raised in an atheist household today, but they still have knowledge of religion. They were taught standard morality, those that taught it learned it from someone who taught them..and go back far enough eventually those teachings of morality came from someone who was religious. there is no race or culture that is atheist in nature to have a true lineage of atheism. At some point, all morality came from religion.
I'm not implying people can't be good without religion. There is actually no way of telling unless you isolate people from birth and give them no knowledge ever, in any way, of morality to see if the human mind in inherently good or evil naturally..or if it's by random both.
