Progressives as a whole are way worse. Most conservatives are "tolerant". Progressives force their views to try to make you accept them, not tolerate them.
Progressives have gone beyond pushing to tolerance and equality, mostly because in many areas such as women and minorities equality by law has been achieved. Now they push for special treatment which is largely hypocritical and reverses the roles, by oppressing the others.
People do things under the name of equality, but in reality, it is for them to be in power over others. It never stops at simple equality.
