Things I like the most about Roper. He is a proven developer of QB's and he tailors the offense to the QB's strengths.

Well...I have been a Driskel supporter for a long time and folks are going to stop bashing him soon....its the same kneejerk idiots who want to blame losses on a player.
Driskel had no frosh season...it was wasted with a handful of snaps and an injury in 2011...then he ended up in the spring/summer/fall competing with Brissett until the very first game of the season in 2012. Driskel led us to 20 unanswered points against A&M on the road....beat UT with his legs and arms. Remember he was really a frosh in 2012 for all intents and purposes..he was instructed to secure the ball at all costs and he would take sacks because of it. But we went 11-1 with a very conservative offense that let the defense get good field position for it.
Driskel started out with almost 300 yds passing against SCUM because they sold out to stop the run and we were without our starter at RB...Matt Jones if anyone remembers and we were thin on the OL (we had an OT transfer to BC...we had a potential great OG get arrested and thrown off the team to add to our thin ranks with Chaz Green gone)...yes we had five turnovers against SCUM but not all because of Driskel...one pick was caused by poor route by WR...but QBs always get blamed.
Now with all the offtime and the ability to heal and watch film a lot...watch to see Driskel shine in 2014 if OL can give him a little breathing room. Grier should redshirt if possible....Boom cannot afford to have true frosh start at qb and watch season implode as it surely would with true frosh at the helm.

I'm not bashing Driskel as much as just excited to see other incoming recruits excited about Roper.

Me too. Can't be worse than Pease.
And Grier is the freaking man. In this long season of 'LOL Florida' moments, he hasn't wavered from his commitment and has always shown his support for UF. Hope the OC does right by him, not like the previous OCs who didn't capitalize on our QB's skills.

Driskel did the same thing and with Meyer leaving he could have wavered...folks forget how highly recruited Driskel was and how he won the qb competition in the Elite 11 against the best high school sr qbs. And in the AA Amourall game he ran for about 90 yds on one play in case any of you forgot.
Please be patient with Grier...its still a learning curve and he isn't ready period, exclamation point. Maybe after mid season he has enough playbook knowledge and savvy to be able to play some, but lets all hope and pray he can redshirt and be ready for 2015....if Driskel can stay upright.

I'm meh on the RS, but i'm excited to see JD work with Roper's offense. And I agree, we've really got to give Driskel good protection so we dont have to throw grier in right away.

I never implied that folks on this board (although there are some who have underestimated his abilities) are bashing Driskel...just a general statement about a lot of Gator fans who have very short memories and/or don't understand what it takes to succeed as a SEC qb.
Cant wait to have 2014 unfold and watch the Gators turn 180 from this year's results. We will be in high cotton soon.

I hope Roper can develop Driskel then Grier.
However, until I see results on the field for the UF offense I am not buying in. There is still an open position at OL coach.
With another offensive system change the seniors with be on their 3rd offensive system. This will be another huge learning curve.
