Here is one of many examples. I think this was before any LSU interest was shown..

Army All American Dante Sawyer - 7 - DE -Commits to USC

quote:

He looked way better than Lorenzo Carter in their championship game.

quote:

It is crazy to think this supposedly 5* senior DE could at any point get the best out of a junior highly touted OL. Right?

What a pathetic excuse.

If that had been one game, I still wouldn't buy it but I'd give Lorenzo a pass. However he has sucked in every game (some getting dominated) that I have seen minus his first half against that same boogey man junior OT the first time they played NG months ago.

The discussion was with a UGA fan. Nothing about LSU. It's about the player being very underwhelming and easily dominated.

Outside of the BTW game he hasn't been dominated but it's a matter of opinion I guess. I never saw him get manhandled by Hyatt.

You do realize that the OL that Sawyer was up against are not even half the OT that Carter went against in Hyatt, right? Not surprising that he looked better than Carter in that game. Sawyer is no slouch either, but much closer to his ceiling than is Lorenzo.

Anyone that thinks he didn't get the best of Hyatt at all, simply didn't watch the game. Apparently didn't watch either game vs NG, for that matter. And whoever you quoted clearly didn't watch any of his games past Booker T if they can say he "he has sucked in every game (some getting dominated) that I have seen" or that he is "easily dominated". Either that or they throw around the "sucks" and "dominated" descriptors far too easily.

I think your problem is that you are looking at him like a defensive end instead of what he is: an OLB playing out of position at Norcross as a DE. If he goes to a 4-3 team, he is at least 2 years away from making an impact.

FWIW, Carter is not the #1 player in the nation or even in the state of GA, but 5* is not a reach with his potential. You're are acting like he is some scrub not even fit for FBS and that is blowing it way out of proportion. Lots of guys get ranked on potential instead of what they doing right now, especially on 247.
