Range and defense is still a huge deal to Cohen. Rightly or wrongly. You can see it in who he plays in the outfield and basically sticks with regardless.
Range gets skewed in stats too -- because Frost could make plays to get to balls but throw them away for an E -- while Detz couldn't get there -- and it would simply go in the books as a base hit.
Personally, I want it to be Humphreys' job from day 1. Let him go through growing pains and learn on the fly in the non-con, so he's ready for SEC play. I think he's got SEC Freshman of the Year potential. Let Detz DH. That said, I don't necessarily expect to see that happen. So, I hope Detz has improved vastly at the position.
