Bernie Kosar is the only redshirt freshman quarterback to lead his team to the national title. He started all 12 games for Miami in 1983.
(Only one true freshman has ever led a team to a national championship: Oklahoma's Jamelle Holieway in 1985.
Holieway, from Wilmington Banning High, became the Sooners' starter in the fourth game of the 1985 season because Troy Aikman broke his leg during an Oct. 19 loss to Miami.)
*Vick - was a redshirt freshman when the Hokies lost to FSU in the national title game.

quote:
the line fluctuated from Auburn -2 to Auburn +2
Auburn opened as a 1 point favorite and was a 1 point favorite at kickoff.
Point remains. It's laughable to suggest Auburn was the underdog. A push would be the most accurate description.
They were considered more or less equals and that was validated by the first three quarters of play after which Auburn separated themselves to the shock of very few people who've watched Mizzou in big games.
