State has been to more bowl games and had better seasons than OM over last twenty years

Stop putting time tables on everything. Only lesser programs do this so the stats are in their favor. Do you only look at first half or second half stats? No. You look at the entire body of work to determine who is better.

Sherrill ended any dominance OM had over us

That's why he ended up with a losing record against us, right?

So the moon landings aren't modern then? Got it.

The "modern" era changes depending on what is being examined. Many sports indeed use the 70s when integration occurred as the beginning of their "modern era" for statistical purposes. However, if you want to look at the history of the world, the "modern era" usually begins around the Industrial Revolution. Using the same "modern era" parameters for both history and athletics would be silly since no major sports league that I am aware of even existed in the 1820s.

If looking at the a program being "better" over their entire history, sure. You look at the entirety of their accomplishments. However, let's just be honest, do those accomplishments really correlate to current success and program standing? Just a thought.
