Depends on records of the conference champs probably. If people think a 11-1 team who didn't win their conference is better than a 11-2 team that did win theirs, than so be it. The eyeball test will also be a huge factor in deciding the playoff teams.

I think conference champions has more to do with a team like Alabama jumping an 11-1 Michigan State team or 11-1 Baylor team
