Criteria for the playoffs next year

I've seen a lot of people say that conference championships will be a MAJOR factor in deciding who will be in the 4 playoff spots. Can I get a link for that?
Not bashing at all.. I do think the conference champs should be in the game, and I do think Alabama should win theirs to get in.

Depends on records of the conference champs probably. If people think a 11-1 team who didn't win their conference is better than a 11-2 team that did win theirs, than so be it. The eyeball test will also be a huge factor in deciding the playoff teams.

Nobody is going to know what the criteria is going to be until ESPN starts stacking up resumes around the beginning of November and we see what they're emphasizing.
It's going to be very strange to see what happens. Even with more spots in the playoffs its going to feel like there is even less margin for error than right now, because nobody knows what the standard is.

Until all major teams are in a conference, and all conferences crown a champ the same way, I doubt this really becomes a determining factor. shite-tier leagues will likely push for it, but SEC/B1G/Big 12 and any others that can put 2 teams in the top 4 will oppose.

Just wait until there are 6 real unbeaten teams and watch the shite storm. I know it's very unlikely to happen but it could

Here is the link to the article ESPN ran in June 2012. LINK
Here is the paragraph, near the bottom of the page, that addresses conference champions:

The championship game will be managed by the conferences and will not be branded as a bowl game. The presidents also announced the creation of a selection committee that will rank the teams to play in the playoff, "giving all the teams an equal opportunity to participate." The committee will consider win-loss record, strength of schedule, head-to-head results and whether a team is a conference champion.

Unlike college football's current title system, the Bowl Championship Series, the new format will not use computer rankings or polls in the selection of its 12 participating teams. Rather, a committee of 13 people will select and seed the teams.[8] The playoff system will be the first to determine the top-level NCAA football championship by a bracket competition. The new format is known as a Plus-One system, a proposal which became popular in 2011 as a replacement for the BCS.

The management committee has charged the selection committee to select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:
Conference championships won
Strength of schedule
Head-to-head competition
Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory)
Other relevant factors such as key injuries that may have affected a team's performance during the season or likely would affect its postseason performance

I agree UA is a top 4 team...at the least. I also think a 2013 committee swlecting FSU/AU/MSU and Baylor (or Stanford) shouldn't surprise anyone.

Personally I don't care for the 4 team playoff. I think it should actually be 6+2 teams. I say 6 because in all likely hood the 6 highest ranked teams will involve the winners of the 6 aq conferences and then whoever the next highest ranked two teams are.
