I'm excited about the game and location. It's the best bowl in the country that's non-BCS. Orlando is a better destination than Tampa or Dallas. Wisc is now going to be #19, and should prove to be a challenge. We'll get to play a team we've never played before and continue our dominance over the Big1G.

I think Cotton Bowl is a much better bowl. Primetime game on its own night with massive exposure for the programs we get a half assed Capital One Bowl production at 1 with a New Years hangover

Well damn, I was born in Madison, my parents are UW grads and raised me a fan...even today they're my second team, I'm not going to be happy however this plays out but I'll have to root for my alma mater. This will be a tough game no doubt.

They're well coached, they have a stout Defense (#6) and a strong rushing attack (#9).

Players to watch
-LB Chris Borland: Kid is an absolute beast. B1G Linebacker and Defensive player of the year this year. 1st team All-B1G the past three years and freshman of the year in 09 (was out for injury in 10)

-S Tanner McEvoy: Moved to Safety from QB after breaking a bone in his wrist this spring. Has excelled in his new position...not dominant but an interesting story considering he transferred from USC.

-WR Jared Abbrederis: Wisconsin is not a passing team but when they do throw they aim for Abby (1051yds, 7 TDs). He's really the only down-field threat other than their TE Pedersen. 1st team All-B1G the past two years

-RB Melvin Gordon: 1466 Yards, 8.1 YPC, 12 TD's
-RB James White: 1337 Yards, 6.4 YPC, 13 TD's
-RB Corey Clement: 515 Yards, 7.8 YPC, 7 TD's

-QB Joel Stave: Sophomore QB in his first season as the sole starter. For those unfamiliar with UW their QB's are game managers, Russell Wilson was an exception, their job is to move the ball from the Center to the RB and throw every fourth or so play. Stave is decent but not great - 2414 Yards, 20 TDs/12 INTs, 61% comp. Poses no running threat.

The key to this game will be getting some turnovers and getting ahead early...what PSU did to them last week. They struggle playing from behind. Do that and we should win, if we get into a slug-fest it might get nasty.

I'm a little annoyed right now. Unlike most of you (I think at least) I post both here and on CockyTalk...here for the humor and there for...well I'm not sure why I still post there, it's a larger audience I guess.

Well I wrote a more detailed preview only to have it deleted in less than 10 minutes by a mod there:

I wrote that entirely myself. WTF Cockytalk. Guess I'll post entirely here then.

Thanks for the post. Cockytalk sucks, so don't let it get to you man. Nice analysis.

You should take that as a compliment they confused your own work as an article. Must have been a pretty impressive write up.

I'm really curious to see how our front 7 will handle the Wisc running game, they have really 3 RB's that are outstanding. And Holtz was raving about their top WR that they're getting back from injury.

Yeah I posted this on the SECR but just looking at their schedule its interesting.

They're 9-3, got screwed out of a good win @ASU so should be 10-2, lost to Ohio St. in Ohio St. by just a touchdown, dropped a game last week to PSU that I'm sure they thought they'd win. So yeah they're good.

With that said their 9 wins are really unimpressive. Their best wins are against a couple of decent teams in Iowa and Minnesota, both on the road, but that's it. Iowa and Minnesota have been flirting with the polls but when the dust cleared not a single team Wisconsin beat this season is ranked.

You should tell him that, he might put it back up.

On an unrelated note: I was on the Fark Board a few months ago and noticed Spurticus posts over there

Spurt posts over here too, but I don't think he's ever posted on this board.

Say what? Orlando is hilariously terrible. Out of college we used to joke a/b having to go there for a job. Tampa is predictably trashy and Dallas is Texas-sized dumb but both trump Orlando and it ain't even a contest.

I post there, too. The Cockpit sucks, but their other boards are pretty decent.

As far as Wisconsin, this is the kind of matchup that scares the piss outta me. It's very tempting to overlook them, cos the BiG sucks arse, and we as fans are disappointed that we weren't in Atlanta/BCS bowls or in the Cotton Bowl. But I guarantee you Wisky will be fired up, and if USC doesn't come to play, they can certainly lose this game.

It's kind of a lose/lose. If USC wins, and wins big, they were supposed to. If USC wins close, or heaven forbid loses, well, they're overrated and suck and the rest of the conference is pissed at you.

I'm trying to get excited about this, I really am.

I think you and I are in different worlds. I'll be going down there with a family and young kids, so we have Disney in Orlando and that trumps about anything. Tampa has Ybor City, and Dallas is just a big city.

Well done KSGamecock. Much appreciated.

My feeling on Wisconsin FWIW, is that they worry me. They are exactly the kind of football team that gives us fits.

I've seen Whiskey play a few times over the past few years, having started following them when Russell Wilson went up there and then becoming somewhat interested when McEvoy transferred up there.

They are more than capable of kicking our butts if we do not take them seriously. They'll embarrasse us if we are not careful and if we do not practice hard and respect them during the course of preperation.

We're in an absolutely difficult situation here. We've got a lot to lose compared to what little we have to gain going-into this bowl.

Eta: ....and I just checked something and unless I'm wrong Whiskey is undefeated in Orlando having won both games as the underdog. (Auburn and Arkansas)
