I say: "Get Better".
Can't get better when we're handcuffed by population. I remember one year we only had 20 kids on the team. Another year our biggest player was only 6'1" and he was the punter. You have to realize this was some 10-15 years ago. I understand the whole, want them to stop scoring then stop them, but there is a line. There's more but I get the feeling you won't understand.

my old, big thick ones don't have anything to "rock to", I promise.. maybe a little minor swaying..

I think I understand, but I also understand the other side. I've had teams (from the wasteland) that played against teams from smaller communities. We were so much better/talented that we couldn't do anything to keep the score down. I actually took the smallest kid on my team, that has never pitched for this team and started him.
We ended up beating that team 45-0. We were in USSSA 13u Major Division tournament too. You know what, that team came back the following year and played us a complete game (same players) and kept us to a 9pt victory . They didn't feel sorry for themselves, they went to work and schemed their way to well fought game. That was a 36 point improvement.
Sometimes it is what it is.

They do it down here all the time. Private school recruiting.
The problem is it was the only private school in a non-private school area. And they just exude everything that's wrong with the Cross Church and its cult.

I completely understand you're point of view and agree 100% that it is up to the Hog coaches, players and donors (via contributions) to make our program better. I certainly expect better than the tire fire we saw this year.
Recruiting in high school sports has been going on long before Gus ever showed up on the scene. Completely agree with that fact, although private schools outside Arkansas, like Evangel Christian, played up divisions. Shiloh initially didn't do that and did piss off a lot of people at little schools to the point they refused to play them in Jr high. Now Shiloh plays up and it is probably better for everyone all around.
Here's my perspective. My family and I have been at CrossChurch for years and we've prayed, worshipped and been active with the church. A place that prides itself on actively pursuing the Great Commission to bring their faith to others the world over. During our time there I have become sickened by the Gus supporters within the church and Shiloh community. They have been personally offensive, accusatory and gloated about Arkansas's struggles. The Thursday before the Auburn game, while dining at Neal's in Springdale the owner was sporting his Auburn hat and when asked who he was cheering for that weekend (which was done in a respectful manner) he replied that he not only is cheering for Auburn he hopes Arkansas doesn't win another game. He was angry. This isn't an isolated incident but I've seen this before from the Gus followers. They're confrontational and insulting.
All that to say, where is their witness in these actions? Great, they beat Berryville 72-6, but how is that representing their faith? How is insulting and/or being condescending to others in the community sending a Christian message? I'm done with them. I bite my tongue and remind them it's a game.
I liked Gus, he's a good coach, his teams are fun to watch and I have said he may have been a better choice for us. Evidently he was' tan option. Said the same about Briles and Gundy. The Gus ship gas sailed, time to move on. But I'm not supporting him or Auburn because of those annoying jokers around here who love him and because it isn't in the best interest of Arkansas.

Hey I get it, I really do. Some of my best friends here in LR are fans of other Universities (Auburn and Bama). I hear it everyday. Guess we have been able to take all of the trash talking at what it is and not let it impact our personal lives.
Also, I appreciate you post and good luck on finding a new home to worship. Seems like some of the folks at your old home have their priorities messed up and need our prayers.

they are so thirsty for attention, its crazy. "Hey look at us, look at what we just did".
Gawd help the Rant when Bert wins the SECCG. The tsunami in Japan won't compare to what tFlagship will deal out to this board.

Thanks. It's the worst combination: football, religion and politics.
I'm over it but I work in that town and try to not offend or burn bridges. Obviously some some people don't care, good for them I guess. It would be different if it were just friends too, we'd just go at it.
