ESPN
USC vs Wisc in the Cap One (both Schlabach and Edwards picked this.)
Wisc is #21 in BCS, 9-3 record
CBS Sports
USC vs Iowa in the Outback
Iowa is not ranked, 8-4 record
SB Nation
USC vs Iowa in the Outback
Iowa is not ranked, 8-4 record

National Football Post
USC vs Iowa in the Outback

Phil Steele
USC vs Iowa in the Outback

Sports Illustrated
USC vs Miami in the Peach Bowl
Miami is not ranked, 9-3 record
USA Today
USC vs Wisc in the Cap One
Wisc is #21 in BCS, 9-3 record
So the overwhelming prediction is USC vs Iowa in the Outback. It's a decent bowl, but I'd rather go to the Cap One. We still have a shot at the Cap 1 if Mizz loses to Aub, which I believe will happen.
I know there were rumors about the Peach Bowl or the Cotton, but with all the national picks saying something different, I don't either will be our destination.

There's only one way it will not happen from what I understand as of yesterday ... and that is if the SEC can convince the Cotton to take Mizzou (provided Auburn beats Mizzou and, even if not the Cotton is likely to take Auburn).
Evidently the Cotton only wants teams from the West because of travel distances (Tennessee was the lone exception and they failed to travel well that year ... and lost in the snow), but the SEC is trying to convince the Cotton that Mizzou fans are excited and close enough to make it worth their while.
We shall see I suppose.
The Outback does not want us. They didn't come right out and say it, but you could tell ... they spent some time in our Cockaboose after the game. Even the Outback folks were saying they expect us to go to Atlanta.

Vs Miami in the Peach is the most fun matchup, IMO. The Big 10(12) is absolutely atrocious, and no one is going to get excited about playing Iowa again.
I know it's a longshot, but I'd love the Cotton vs a Texas, Oklahoma, or a Baylor.
How crazy is it that we used to celebrate going to the Independence Bowl, and now we're complaining about Cap 1/Outback??

Even tho it isn't the same U, I like that match up.

Meaning that the Outback excpected Mizzou to lose and us go to Atlanta for the SECCG, or that they expect us to fall to the Peach Bowl?

Yeah that match up would be lame.

Cotton would be awesome, but like you said, not very likely.

I remember Spurrier complaining how we used to applaud after losing.

He has definitely changed our mindset for the better.

I just took it as they love us ... they appreciate us ... they like getting drunk with us ... but they didn't think we would travel back down to Tampa for another year considering the economy and the fact that we've seen everything there is to see down there and it would make it four outta the last six years.
But I honestly believe Spurrier doesn't want us back down there this year as well. There is such a thing as over exposure in a recruiting area ... and it could be used against us much like he used "you can't spell Citrus without UT" against the Vols.
Instead, Spurrier wants us in Atlanta, to finally get a win in Atlanta, another first, and for future experience ... to get the lid off the basket so-to-speak.
Our first ever bowl loss was in the '69 Peach Bowl to Bobby Bowden and WVA (with Jim Carlen as his OC), and we've never won there since. We need to get that monkey off our backs.
Spurrier is looking at it from that perspective IMHO.

I do not want another Big 10ish opponent in a Florida bowl
I stand by my offer to bet 1 million dollars that we play Duke in the chickfila bowl

I'm hearing buzz that we're going to Cotton Bowl if Auburn wins the SEC and the Capital One Bowl if Mizzou wins the SEC
Posted on 12/3/13 at 7:19 pm to AtlantaSportsGuy
ive been hearing he same atl...a guy who works for the team i know told me...the Cotton wants us its a matter if Mizzou loses and if the SEC will let us go...Jerry Jones is a fan of us coming down to help ut exposure for Devonte from what i hear he may be a candidate for a starting job next year from a friend who has connections in Dallas as well.

I've already said it, but I'll say it again: Going to the Cotton bowl and playing in Jerry's palace would be awesome.

Getting to play Oklahoma Baylor or Texas would be cool too

Looks like they all agree we are going to Gator
Posted on 12/4/13 at 10:32 am to Cockopotamus
Agreed, a lot better than playing a lame big 10 or ACC team

I gotta admit, I would love to go to Dallas. I've got family and friends there. But I dunno, if it happens a lot has changed since Thanksgiving ... someone's been doing a hard sell to someone in our admin offices.
And, personally, I'm just not sure how ell our fans will travel to Dallas.

I tend to agree with this, but, it is important to keep in mind that there are a surprising number of Carolina grads living in Texas. I can think of about 10 buddies from college just off the top of my head that went to USC from the Metroplex alone.
My wife and I are expecting our first any day now, but if we weren't, I can tell you I'd head to Dallas, if only for 36 hours. It's an easy flight for me; I wouldn't do the same for any other potential destination save (maybe) Atlanta. And even then, I really can't get excited about playing Duke.
It's a gamble for the Cotton Bowl folks, no doubt. And whoever we play in that game (likely Baylor), is also a bigger challenge than Wisconsin or Iowa. I think the risk may very well be worth the reward, though.

Just a heads up, plane ticket to DAL:
From ATL - $188 round trip, non-stop
From CLT - $471 round trip, non stop
From CAE - $381 round trip, non stop
It's actually well worth it for me to drive to ATL from CLT to take a family of 5.

Yep,

That's dirt cheap, you would burn more in gas and oil than just buying the plane ticket. For me personally, saving $300 a seat for 5 people is enough to pay for the hotel, food and tickets. If the Cotton is our destination, I think that's going to be my plan.

Well, as of this afternoon it does appear that we're maybe headed to the Cotton, thanks to some help from the SEC Offices, some heavy lobbying from Ray Tanner and from Charles Bloom (who now works for Tanner but worked for the SEC for 17 years), and for some promises that we would sell all of our tickets of course.
Also, Truitt Cathy seems to understand now.
Anyways, I went into a little more detail in this post: LINK
