Zombie Apoc Survival is all about three fundamentals that can be applied to a variety of conditions/situations.
People - A key question is do the people around you have the commitment to survival that you have and what skills does the group collectively possess? What are they willing to do to survive, what are they willing to sacrifice to keep the group safe?
Redundancy - Multiple food supply chains are a must, (stored, farmed, etc....) Multiple sources of water, underground well, stream/river, rain collections, etc.... Multiple exit strategies (back doors, planes, ships, trails, etc....) If the place you're at is no longer safe, where's the backup location? Always be aware that everything you have will run out.
Location - The best way to avoid a bad situation is to not be at the wrong place at the wrong time. It'a not just defensive perimeters or remote locations, but you have to be aware of how many threats are around you and what the weather, farming could be like there in the foreseeable future.
***Things you didn't think about during a Zombie apoc, but need to consider***
Gasoline has a shelf life of about 2 years, but the power derived from it falls over time. Diesel keeps its power longer and can last up to 50 years if stored properly (water taps)
You wonder why you never saw a nuclear power plant meltdown in the Walking Dead? That's b/c it's a make believe tv show. A real world threat would be a Nuke reactor melting down while everybody is chomping on each other. Stay away from Nuke Power plants and not downwind of the jetsream from one. Fallout travels for many miles. Also, there are fewer Nuke Reactors in the Southern Hemisphere than in the Northern.

Or from Military Bases which could be the target of foreign attacks...
Or the eastern seaboard due to population density...
In short, you and I are screwed. I'm in Lexington, SC....within 1 hr of an Army Base, Air Force Base, Savannah River site and God knows how many Nuclear Reactors.
I won't have to worry about any survival scenarios...

Thanks for the pro tips.
Admit it......
You're the guy that loads the mini-van and takes the family camping once a year......and wears a machete on one hip....and a canteen on the other.....at the scenic overlooks and tourist traps by the highway.
