lets see...8-4 this year, gonna probably go 7-5 or so next year. yeah, sounds like money well spent. almost as good as spending 500 million to fix up your dump of a stadium when you could have built a brand new domed stadium for less. sounds like you guys have a strong economics program out there.

Mort just said on ESPN that Kevin Sumlin will get $5 million per year and will forego entertaining NFL offers for at least three years

Ole Gus has gotta be loving life. His team is playing well and his competition is getting PAID. Auburn is going to have to put some shekels on the table at the end of the year. Sucks we are still putting out money to Chiz

I guess aTm has a really low standard from what they expect from a 4-5 mil per year guy...I mean he really hasn't brought much to aTm yet. You all got trolled by USC...

JFF is to Sumlin, what Farve was to Hallman. One can succeed without the other, the other cannot.

That is a gamble....personally I'm not sure his stock is going to get any higher than it is now. IMO he should have gone to the NFL in any capacity right now if his aspirations are truly to one day run an NFL team. He certainly doesn't have the players on his team now to replace Manziel and Evan's production....obviously I don't follow aTm recruiting so they may be on the way.

IDK if he is as good as ya'll think he is I'll be wrong.

This is a solid business move, period. Just sold out a 102,500 seat renovated stadium and have a #3 recruiting class, per Rivals. You can give the head coach a $2M/year raise, or let him walk and lose up to 20% of season ticket holders who are buying into where these last 2 recruiting classes will take you. Let's assume the average seat in the new stadium will run $100/game (including donation and capital contribution). That's extremely conservative, and the real impact may be 2-3 times more per ticket. If you lose 10% of the season tix spoken for, that's 10,000 season tickets, at $100 each, or $1M per game. At 6 games a year (the fewest on any given year), that's a loss of $6M per year. Sumlin has the best first 2-year record of any A&M coach in history, the best first two recruiting classes of any A&M coach since classes were tracked. And strictly from a business standpoint, the move saves no less than $4M per year, and more likely avoids costs of closer to $10M per year. This was a no-brainer. Sumlin is in the right place at the right time.
