Tennessee is the only East team that has played in the Cotton Bowl since the current SEC/Big 12 matchup was struck in '98 and even then it's only been twice.

Since '98 season:

Arkansas - 4
Ole Miss - 3
LSU - 2
Tennessee - 2
Alabama - 1
Auburn - 1
Mississippi St - 1
Texas A&M - 1
