Fran did beat Saban 31-0 in Death Valley in 2002.
It's fun to hate on him, but he was successful at Bama and had his moments at A&M.
His problem was recruiting, not strategy or football intellect.

His best moment at A&M was beating a 9-3 Texas team in Austin. In 2005, he took a preseason top-15 team and finished 5-7

It was cold as shite that night too
between injury and suspension, the second half of the 2002 season was by far Saban's worst period at LSU.
